Jesus as the Only Lord and Master of Jude

  Muslims have two major problems with Christianity.

  The first is with the deity of Christ, and the second is with the Bible, which teaches the deity of Christ.

  While they claim that the Bible has been corrupted, they are unable to tell you when or where or by whom. When asked what parts of the Bible are corrupt, the easy answer is, everything that disagrees with Islam.

  That is, of course, terribly convenient for Muslims and Islam, but it is difficult to swallow for anyone objective enough to spot the many flaws in the argument. For example, why would anyone bother to doctor the content of as minute or as apparently inconsequential a book of the Bible as the Book of Jude? That just wouldn't make any sense, and yet, the Muslim argument is that it must have happened because even the tiny book of Jude disagrees with the teachings of their prophet. But has it?

  The 4 verses below are from the very short and relatively obscure Book of Jude in the New Testament. Jude was one of two of Jesus' half-brothers (James and Jude were sons of Mary and Joseph. Born after Jesus, of course), who came to faith in Yeshua only after the crucifixion and resurrection of the Christ. Jude wrote:

1 "Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James: To those who are the called, loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ...

4 ... Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.

Now I want to remind you, though you know all these things: The Lord first saved a people out of Egypt and later destroyed those who did not believe;

and He has kept, with eternal chains in darkness for the judgment of the great day, the angels who did not keep their own position but deserted their proper dwelling."(HCSB)

  Now, if you're a Muslim or one of the other folks who doesn't believe that Jesus is God, my questions to you are as follows:

  1) If Jesus is not God, why would Jude write that "the called" are loved by the Father and kept (or preserved) by the Son (v. 1)? How would a mere human being have the power to spiritually keep other human beings in the elevated and omnipotent sense described here by Jude?

  2) If Jesus is not God, why would Jude write that Jesus Christ is our only Master and Lord (v. 4)? Remember that this is Jesus' half-brother speaking. How on earth can this man call someone he grew up with "the only Master and Lord" if it isn't true?

  3) If Jesus is not God, why would Jude write that it was Jesus Who saved Israel out of Egypt 1,600 years before He came to earth as the Jewish Messiah (v. 5)? And that He is the very same Lord Who has kept in chains the angels who rebelled against God (v. 6)? Where does Jesus get this power which no mere man can wield?

  How does/did Jesus do all of that if He wasn't/isn't God?

  The plain truth of the matter is that Jesus IS God.

  As you can see, it says so all over the Bible!

  I pray that Jude's closing verses become true for your life, too, and those of your loved ones:

  "Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen." Jude 24-25
