Isaiah, Gabriel and the Son of God

More than 730 years before Jesus came to earth, the prophet Isaiah prophesied:

"For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:6-7, HCSB

Then one day the angel Gabriel came to Mary and said,

30 "... Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call His name Jesus.

32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end." Luke 1

Take a look at those verses again (italics mine).

  First Isaiah,

"For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on His shoulders
He will be named Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."
   Isaiah 9:6

  And now Gabriel,

"... You will conceive and give birth to a son,
and you will call His name Jesus.
   He will be great
and will be called the Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give Him
the throne of His father David."
   Luke 1:31-32

   Then Isaiah again,

  "The dominion will be vast,
and its prosperity will never end.
He will reign on the throne of David
   and over his kingdom,
   to establish and sustain it
   with justice and righteousness
   from now on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord of Hosts
   will accomplish this."
   Isaiah 9:7

  And then Gabriel,

  "He will be great
and will be called the Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give Him
the throne of His father David.
He will reign over the house of Jacob forever,
and His kingdom will have no end."
   Luke 1:32-33

Months before He was born, Gabriel unmistakably identified Yeshua (Jesus) as the One Who would fulfill the 700+ year old prophecy spoken by Isaiah.

Both Isaiah and Gabriel said this Son is God:

Isaiah said the coming Child would be named Mighty God and Eternal Father (alternately "Father of Eternity" to reflect His pre-existence and eternality).

And God sent the angel Gabriel to announce the imminent arrival of the Son of God, Who is King Messiah, Jesus the King of the Jews, King over an eternal kingdom.

This is the same Jesus Who fulfilled over 300 prophecies with His coming.

This is what YHWH had promised, spoken also through the prophet Isaiah:

"Remember what happened long ago,
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and no one is like Me.
I declare the end from the beginning,
and from long ago what is not yet done,
saying: My plan will take place,
and I will do all My will.
  ...
Yes, I have spoken;
so I will also bring it about.
I have planned it;
I will also do it.
He watches over His Word to fulfill it!"
Isaiah 46:9-11
